For those of you who don’t know me, I love a list. A to-do list, a future goals list, a grocery list…all of the above. So today, I’m bringing you an extra special list of the reasons why I, as a Denver boudoir photographer, love boudoir photography as a whole. I’ll be curious to see if any of these ring true with you as well!
1. It’s a gift for you, first and foremost.
The majority of my clients are gals on the eve of their wedding, anniversary, holiday, or of an important milestone in their lives like their partner’s birthday. On the outside, boudoir is a gift for someone else; but sneakily, on the inside, it’s a gift for you above all else. Think about it…it’s you who picks out the outfits, you who guides my hair + makeup team during application, and you who puts in the hard work doing all the poses in the home studio. You will treasure these photos just as much as your partner will!
2. It’s fun as shit.
I don’t know about you, but I try to make everything I do fun in some aspect. And that includes my work! We’ll have a great time during your photo shoot. I keep our session together lighthearted and easygoing. And of course, my dog Sherman will lift your moods as soon as you walk through the door. I apologize in advance for the abundance of dog hair she will bestow upon you during belly rub time. I’ll make sure to pass you the lint roller before you head out!
3. You’ll gain a new appreciation for parts of yourself — both physical and otherwise — you didn’t know you had.
Maybe this is a new confidence you’ll gain as a result of having an objective viewer (me!) see yourself through my lens. I photograph all aspects during your shoot: booty, boobs, legs, back (how I love some strong back muscles on gals!), and of course, your face. I’m an impartial spectator so I only see you as you are: a total freakin’ babe!
4. I’ve seen in real time how a boudoir photo shoot can lift my client’s spirits.
One of the common themes I hear during the photo reveal is, “Wow! I can’t believe that’s me onscreen!” and “I was expecting to not love these photos and I could not be more wrong!” Seeing yourself through the lens of a camera is an empowering feeling. 5. You’ve immortalized your present-day self for years to come.
I can’t wait to turn 85 and show everyone in the nursing home all the past boudoir photos of myself. In the words of Ron Burgundy, “Hey everyone! Come see how good I look!” Yup, that’s going to be me — and you after you’ve seen your photos!
