Summer Boudoir Wrap-Up

Annnnnd that’s a wrap on summer 2026! ☀️

For me, this was the summer that never really was.  Turns out when you have unexpected spine surgery, your life gets turned upside down just a bit 🙃

Not only on a physical level, but on the work level too.  This August, I took medical leave from work for the first time in my life.  It came after emergency spine surgery to repair a severely extruding disc in my lower back.  It wasn’t what I wanted for this summer, of course.  I had to cancel shoots I wasn’t physically able to do.  (Many shout-outs to Adena with Blush + Tease for handling a shoot for me the day after I got back from the hospital!)  I also had to turn potential clients away, and even cancel vacations.  As a single, self-employed millennial, my work ethic was drilled into my DNA thanks to the 2008 recession. So being unable to complete my duties as a business owner this year was really tough.

Thankfully, my recovery has gone well.  Taking photos with a chunk of my spine missing is no longer scary.  I’m a little slower on my feet than I’d like, since I’m still dealing with some lingering numbness and weakness in one of my feet. But for the most part, I’m able to grab the cameras and get into the home studio for your boudoir sessions.

So this is my little summer wrap-up post today!  A huge thank-you to a handful of lovely clients who were so patient with me during shoots, especially with a delivery schedule that took longer than I would have liked.  I have so much gratitude to my clients for being so understanding and compassionate during this little life upheaval.

My books are open for October and beyond!  Hit me up if you’d like to chat about getting your boudoir shoot on the calendar, and thank you for stopping by the blog!
