A Denver Boudoir Shoot: As Told by a Client

I am stoked about today’s blog post because it’s not written by me.

Instead, I’m featuring the words of a client who marked my first Denver boudoir shoot of this year: the lovely Ms. K.

I asked her to craft a little write-up so that I could share a more intimate account of what it’s like to do a shoot with me.  I can only tell you so much about the experience; sometimes you need to hear straight from the source.

So let’s get to it!

I researched boudoir photographers for weeks – but when I decided to take the next step of actually communicating with a photographer, that’s when it started to get real.

I decided that Ashley’s photographs matched what I wanted – the gift for my husband for our anniversary.  Her style is moody, sexy, and leaves a little to the imagination.  I composed an email and took a deep breath before I hit send.  I’ve wanted to do this for a long time – so I’m unsure of why it was hard to be brave!

After a few emails, we set up a time to chat where Ashley was less interested in getting details nailed down and more interested in getting to know me! It was a delightful conversation and I set up a date for the shoot!

There was definitely a checklist of things to do leading up to the day of the shoot – which is difficult when you’re keeping it a secret!  I had purchased the lingerie, drank water, water and more water, ate right in the weeks beforehand, treated myself to a mani/pedi (which, by the way, I’m so happy I went with dark nailst!) and was more nervous as the days ticked down.

The big day finally arrived and I was really anxious.  Am I really going to bare it all in front of a stranger?! Here goes nothing! I parked my car, with my chosen outfits in hand, I started up the stairs to greet two women who made me feel like a million bucks.  We jumped right in with hair and make-up.  I requested a more natural look, and it was exactly right.  My hair was perfect. And now – as soon as I thought my nerves were calm, Ashley said it was time to get started.

Ashley was an expert at showing me exactly what I needed to do, where my hands should be, what my legs were supposed to be doing.  I don’t think there was any way she could have helped me feel more at ease and comfortable in her beautiful home studio.  We were laughing and by the end, I decided that while I was there, why not gift my husband with a few photos in the buff.  I am so glad that I did – and my husband is really glad too.  😉

I gifted a work of art to my husband, but I now realize that it is also a gift for myself.  I feel confident, empowered, brave…and hella sexy.  It is so worth it. Be brave, sister!”
