Choosing Your Boudoir Shoot Bottoms

What’s in a pair of undies?

In my opinion, everything!  The styles you select for your boudoir shoot are more important than you might think, as we do a booty shot in each outfit that you bring along.

Whether you’re in a bodysuit or a classic bra-and-panty set, you’ll need to pay attention to how the fabric is cut on your backside.  Let’s look at some client images from this beauty as a handy guide if you’re needing some inspiration!

As you’ll see in the images below, the types of bottoms that I endorse (more so than others) has the following characteristics in common:

  • Medium coverage is the sweet spot.  You don’t want to go full boy shorts, which cover a lot of skin and don’t leave much to work with.  We want to show a balanced amount of skin — not too much, not too little.  (I’ll add a note here on thongs and g-strings: while they’re not my fave, you can definitely bring one for an outfit or two!  My personal preference is medium coverage but I have plenty of poses that will accentuate your booty in a skimpier pair of bottoms.)
  • Lace, lace, lace!  I constantly talk about how much I love lace for boudoir shoot outfits on this blog.  Probably too much!  Lace is the undisputed queen of lingerie fabrics.  You can never go wrong with this romantic material.
  • …but don’t leave out other sexy fabrics!  Mesh is a sexy fabric for your lingerie overall, and especially bottoms.  It gives a classy view of your booty while not being overly exposed.  The second image that showcases the blue bodysuit is a great example of this.
  • Scalloped: it’s not just for potatoes.  The top and bottom images show this fabric cut off the best.  This style of cut gives the fabric a little extra oomph over the basic straight line hem.
  • It’s all in the details.  The rich, gem-toned color of the first outfit.  The floral lace peeking out of the sides of the blue bodysuit in the middle.  The criss-cross straps of the last two photos.  These are all such great little touches that add so much visual intrigue to the final photos.  The more character your outfits have, the more dynamic your gallery will be!

I’ll quit blubbering on and let the images speak for themselves!
